After years of teaching in-person lessons, I began offering online drum lessons in 2016 when I moved from Portland, Oregon, to Nashville, Tennessee. Many of my students continued studying with me virtually, and through mentorship from Daniel Glass and Bruce Becker, I learned how to make online lessons clear, musical, and interactive—every bit as effective as learning in person.

My teaching combines years of drum set study with deep experience in West African rhythm. I’ve traveled to West Africa three times, studying with master drummers such as Famoudou Konaté, Mamady Keïta, and Bolokada Condé, and immersing myself in traditional music and culture.

From these experiences, I’ve developed a well-rounded, personal system for playing drums that connects solid technique with creativity and groove. For those interested, we can explore creative applications of West African rhythms on the drum set, djembe, balafon, and other percussion instruments.
