Djembe Basics Online Workshop
In this online class, you will gain new skills while having fun playing West African rhythms, breaks and accompaniments. This class aims to be accessible to a complete beginner while presenting new skills that can help an experienced player improve. We will play rhythms, breaks and accompaniments as taught by master drummers, Mamady Keita, Famoudou Konate and Bolokada Conde.
All you need is a djembe and internet connection. To take the experience to the next level, use headphones, use a laptop or desktop plugged into the Ethernet. Set up Zoom for playing and listening to music (we will help with the settings).

Students are changed forever as they enter the Bolokada workshop and practice and discover the magnificent depth and complexity of Malinke music and folklore. “You will learn the Malinke djembe rhythm and accompaniment on the sangban, kenkeni, and dundunba, plus solo technique… and the story of the rhythm and why we play each song.” –Bolokada Bolokada will teach three classes, Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. While there is a class for every level. A professional could get something out of the beginning class and a beginner could get something out of the advanced class. We encourage you to take all three. We will provide each students with a video of the class as well as a play along track.

About the class: This is an online class for people of all abilities. No experience is needed. If you don't have a drum you can have one shipped to you or use a table. There are specific movements that have a natural swing and timing to them. Get inside the logic.

Learn how to get the primary sounds on the djembe; slap, tone, and bass.
